Botanica Landscape Project
Seaside Renovation
In 2014, Botanica Landscaping was awarded this premier project in Palm Beach. The site required a total renovation of the landscaping, which allowed us to start with a total clean slate. Botanica was fortunate to work with SMI Landscape Architecture to implement their comprehensive vision for the site. SMI designed spaces that would offer an instant impact for the client while Botanica brought the vision to life one tree at a time.
Botanica worked for over a year to procure and tag all the specimen material. We held all the tall hedge material at our own nursery until it was ready for installation. The specimen trees included thirteen 30-foot Seagrape trees and several other distinct varieties. For instance, Botanica secured several 40-year-old European Olive trees from California to complete the western pool area. We also collected and installed three native Green Buttonwood trees to create a screened walkway along the house. When it came time to install the trees, Botanica secured wide load permits and police escorts to ensure the trees were untouched and, when planted, looked like they had been in place for years. Beyond these specimens, Botanica also installed over five thousand container plants to create instant understory impact.
Botanica worked with the SMI team to place each palm in the precise orientation to frame views of the Atlantic Ocean. As wind is always a factor in Palm Beach and the salt burn can affect more sensitive materials, we strategically placed each layer of plants moving from east to west to allow for more unique material on the western side of the property. The included the olive trees, that created a canopy for the pool on the west side of the property.
