Borst Landscape and Design Project
Backyard Oasis
Our client reached out to us looking to create a backyard oasis, one where they could enjoy together with their family, including their young grandchildren. The rear yard had an existing raised patio and steps coming out of the house. The property also had zoning restrictions, limiting the size of the swimming pool that could be installed.
Borst redesigned the upper patio into an outdoor dining space, with a planting bed in the retaining wall and built-in gas grill made with stone veneer that matched the house and fireplace. The bluestone slab steps that lead guests down to the pool area and boulder walls completed with perennials, flowering shrubs, and succulents between the wall stones, create a lush separation between where they eat and sunbathe. Both patios were installed with advanced stone pavers. The pool includes a swim jet that allows our client to swim for exercise, even in its limited size. The rear perimeter plantings were designed to provide focal points centered on the pool and the symmetrical plantings provide multi-seasonal color with different flowering trees, shrubs, and perennials.
